UCR is Sweden´s leading clinical academic research organization
Commisioned by both academia and industry to deliver all aspects of clinical research under one roof. We unite combine academic credibility, clinical expertise and advanced technical expertice in a complete research structure.
Founded in 2001 within Uppsala University and Uppsala University Hospital, UCR has built a full-service offering to design, conduct, analyse, report and publish everything from local investigator-initiated studies to large international multicenter trials.
With more than two decades of experience, we have the expertise and the technology to transform innovative ideas into translational research projects, clinical trials, observational studies and registry-based improvement projects - always with benefit and long-term healthcare development at the core.
We are not profit-driven. Our work is guided by scientific goals, patient benefit, and a long-term commitment to improving healthcare. We aim to make clinical research more accessible, so that more people can participate in studies that generate new and broader knowledge for the future.
Through innovative study designs, advanced methodology, leading competence in registry-based research, and digital solutions, we continuously work to streamline and facilitate clinical research and quality improvement.

UCR is an internationally recognized competence center for registry-based randomized controlled trials (R-RCTs).
-
Pioneering work in large pragmatic studies using quality registries and real-world data.
-
High-quality, cost-effective clinical research enabled by national registries and other patient data sources.
Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCTs)
Since 2024, UCR has invested in digital solutions for DCTs, such as e-consent, remote data collection, and drug distribution. These approaches reduce the need for hospital visits and make participation easier, more inclusive, and closer to patients’ everyday lives.
In collaboration with Region Stockholm and the Swedish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (LIF), UCR has developed a knowledge base on DCT components to support future implementation nationally and internationally.
