We have designed QReg5 to benefit both developers and end-users. Our guiding principles in designing the platform are efficiency, consistency, clarity and aesthetics. To this end, we try to keep things as simple as possible.

For developers

Developers gain from predefined standardized components in the platform. There is no need to re-invent the wheel. These components provide basic functionality, and are based on our long experience of developing and managing registries together with best practices in design and usability.

For end-users

Many end-users are active healthcare professionals, and entering data into quality registries is far from their highest priority. It is important that the registry runs smoothly and demands a minimum of time and attention. Consistent design and functionality translates into familiarity for the end-user. In particular users who work with multiple registries will benefit.

Building a registry

The QReg5 platform includes a Start-kit, with basic functionality that can be adapted and extended to form a working web-based registry application.

Building a registry on the QReg5 platform ensures consistent design and navigation with a minimum of programming. Content specific to the individual registry is created within predefined form templates, again ensuring consistent behavior within and between registries.

Maintenance and upgrades

The QReg5 platform is designed so that platform components can be updated without affecting the healthcare data in the registry itself. This means that registries hosted by UCR and others built on the platform can be upgraded simply and safely by downloading the new platform code. Registry implementations are secured for future development of the platform.
