Uppsala Clinical Research center is the leading clinical Academic Research Organization (ARO) in Sweden, providing in-house expertise Our services include management of clinical and observational studies, biostatistics, clinical quality registries, and clinical event adjudication.


UCR started in 2001 as a clinical research center within Uppsala University and Uppsala University Hospital, with an aim to support qualified clinical research to improve health and healthcare practice. We have since established a complete service package to initiate, plan, conduct, analyze, report and publish local investigator-initiated studies as well as international multicenter trials.


Our business model is built to improve and support clinical research and quality improvement through our combined academic, clinical and technical expertise. Our employees are experienced and knowledgeable in every aspect ranging from small studies and projectsto large global complex randomized clinical trials.


UCR is the largest of the six Swedish centers for National Clinical Quality Registries. Our primary goal is to develop and support the national and local quality registries we manage, but we also provide world-leading expertise in the development of research registries and design an conduct of registry based randomized clinical trials (R-RCTs).


UCR is a vast resource for clinical research both regionally, in Sweden, and internationally. We are proud of our work that has contributed to improved health around the world, and we continue in our effort to advance medical knowledge and health through research and quality monitoring.

Our expertise

  • UCR was founded in 2001 as a center for collaboration between Uppsala University and Region Uppsala. This has given us access to a large network of academic researchers and experts as well as collaborations with both large and small medical and medtech companies
